I’ve been scouring high and lo for beauty tips that I may share to the pocketful of people that appreciate my posts and also to include for the upcoming magazine. But I decided that I shall post a challenge this time.
I’m sure majority of girls my age (20s) are fervent practitioners to the art of makeup. And we usually do slap on some of this and that before leaving the house. However, living in the ever hectic metropolis, we are vulnerable to bad air conditions, humidity, dust and so many other factors that compromise our desire and ability to maintain healthy skin.
And not everyone is able to invest in SKII products.
And after a couple of sleepovers and sweat inducing sport outings, I realized that sometimes it is way more comfortable to go au naturale. So I decided to do an experiment.
I stopped applying makeup on a daily basis.
Of course I still do on official meetings and outings with the girls but I reduced the total makeup days count to a mere 5 within a month. And I swear I am reaping the benefits. My skin has become much clearer, my makeup applies flawlessly with my improved complexion and most importantly, I learnt to love myself even in the morning ( In fact I actually think morning skin looks the freshest). And oh yes, I don’t know if it’s psychological but I can almost vouch that you will morph and look better without makeup. And you also place less stress on the skin around your eyes because there is no rubbing and dabbing to remove eyeliner and mascara (No to fine lines!).
Plus, you get out of the house in a third of the time you used to.
So I challenge you girls out there ( and the minority of guys ) to go on the 1 month no make up challenge. with a max. allowance of makeup days being less than 7 ( I know you need to go on dates too). And take a photo of yourself without makeup after!
Here are some points to help you on the challenge:
1) Drink a truckload of water. But no more than a shot glass before bed.

I’m not going to preach on the benefits of water but all I can say is that it does wonders for your body and skin. But do control your intake at night because it might give you puffy eyes or eye bags.
2) Stay true to your cleanser and toner.

Because they are the basics. And an extra? Do a toner mask. Soak cotton pads with toner and plaster them over your face. You can do this at night before going to sleep.
3) On days that you need to cheat…. Just a little.
I really recommend this product. It’s the Garnier Instant Fairness BB Eye Roll-on. It’s really really light in texture. You don’t feel it on at all. Plus it stays for a really long time. And it really really does wonders in covering eye circles. I know it says it’s for the eyes but I generally use it for my blemishes as well because it’s texture is way lighter than my concealer and it works!
It’s 20 plus to 30 if I’m not wrong.
And looks like ….

4) Don’t nitpick.
Stop judging yourself. Going natural is easy for some, but for the seasoned made up girl, it takes a lot. Go easy on yourself. Find parts that you like on your face and focus on the positive. If you need some time to ease into the change, cheat. But give yourself a break from the pimple woes and eyebag grumbles. The truth is no one is really judging you when they see you without some eyeliner. So learn to strut your stuff even with a bare face. That is true confidence.
SO…. I wish you all the best in your attempt if you do take up the challenge.
I’ll end off with my own no make up face. =)
